Honoring Thet Win Aung in New York

_ reported by Moe Chan

2006 October 22: An event to honour Thet Win Aung was  held in front of the office of SPDC military regime's Permenant Mission to the U.N.

Thet Win Aung, who led many students in the continuous struggle for freedom and democracy, gave his life while serving 59 years in one of Burma’s notorious jails on last Monday, Oct. 16th.

Thet Win Aung was considered as a prisoner of conscience by Amnesty International. At the age of 34, he left behind his family including a brother named Ko Pyone Cho, another student leader recently re-arrested by the regime.

May Thet Win Aung rest in peace!
