The PLEDGE

I say this pledge

To my comrades

who sacrificed their lives

For our National Cause.

In the course of unfinished revolution,

Should my blood was not red enough

Comrade! May you temper me

By sprinkling with your blood.

In the course of unfinished revolution,

Should I show cowardice

Comrades! May your souls possess mine

And guide me along the lane.

In the course of unfinished revolution,

Should I violate and betray

In the name of false hereditary pride

Comrades! May you punish me

With your strong peacock's hands.

In the course of unfinished revolution,

Should I were to lost my life on the halfway,

I won't regret to part from the human world,

But with joy and taking my duty done,

By waving the peacock flag in the air

I'll join you in the heaven.

Comrades! May you embrace me there.

(translated by Mya Than Nyunt)
