Tai Samyone (a Shan freedom activist) said,

The SPDC are using their old tactics of divide and rule. They stir up differences between people who really want to live in peace with one another, respecting each other’s culture and religion. The SPDC can not rule a people who are united against them. Religion is used for political reasons all over the world, and anyone with any sense must resist the perverse use of a person’s spiritual beliefs to incite hatred. All religions preach peace and love for humanity. The SPDC want to divert attention from their own failings and so they hijack religion for their own use.

Taing Yin Thar (an ethnic national) said,

SPDC is and will always try to support clash between Muslims n Buddhist, Burmans and Ethnics, in order to divide and control them all the time. Religions are supposed to be aiming for peace of humanity; instead, some takes serious misdirection. We need information and education for all religions to stop this kind of non-sense wastes and violence. Instead of attacking each other, we should be fighting the Military junta.

Shah Arkani (a human rights activist) said,

I’m truly happy and thanks from the bottom of my heart to that monk (Sayadaw). It was indeed created by SPDC to divert people’s attention to unrelated matters. It is quite astonishing to observe how in the world such atrocities were carried out in front of government officials where any type of gathering is prohibited. The situation itself is proof of the lawlessness of the country. I hope and pray that our Buddhist brothers be more careful in the future.

Dr. Habib Siddiqui ( a US based human rights campaigner) said,

Yes, unity is what is needed in Burma. Unfortunately, the SPDC regime has been using one majority group against another minority wherever the situation permits. Worse still is the fact that there are those within various communities who allow such marginalization and yet want to prove that they belong to democratic and human rights movement.
The attitude of the Buddhist monk is a much desired one, esp. when the minority people have hitherto suffered the worst type of crimes perpetrated by the SPDC junta.
You have full support of me and all the truth-seeking, genuine freedom- and democratic-minded comrades who want to see the forces of goodness triumph over forces of darkness. May Burma find the unity it truly needs at this critical path of its struggle.
