Free
Burma
activists around the world are organizing global action to respond to the
attacks on innocent civilians in eastern Burma perpetrated by the ruling
military junta. The attacks -- the largest in ten years -- have resulted in
15,500 persons being driven from their homes.
The United Nations Security Council, responsible for maintaining international
peace and security, has avoided its clear responsibility to end these attacks.
We are organizing protests in front of embassies of the Burmese military junta
and governmental buildings around the world to demand immediate UN Security
Council action.
A request, already endorsed by Karen, Kachin, Chin, Shan, Arakan, Rohingya
ethnic organizations and Burmese pro-democracy groups worldwide, for an
immediate stop on all atrocities in ethnic areas of Burma will be delivered to
regime embassies around the world. It will also later be sent to United Nations
Security Council. You can sign the
request here (click).
We need your help, and we need it now. Please join a demonstration near you on
May 16.
