Open letter to SPDC Régime: Update your concepts to WIN-WIN Solution
Dear SPDC Generals, Please replace your old ancient out-of-date ideas from Ananda Thuriya’s Dhammata, poem starting with, “Thu dee tayauk kaung: bo.yauk mu_Thu ta yauk hmar, pyet link gar thar, Dama Dar Dee” which meant, “For one to win, another has to fall or lost or destroyed. That is the nature! In the year AD 1171, Minyin Naratheinkha ascended to the throne of Bagan and named his brother, Narapatisithu, Regent or Ein She Min or heir-apparent. He also elevated his own tutor Ananda Thuriya to the rank of minister. Later Narapatisithu killed his brother and took over the throne because his brother took his very beautiful wife Weluwadi. Ananda Thuriya was arrested and ordered to be killed. Ananda Thuriya wrote the above poem and sent to the King Narapatisithu. I hereby tried to translate his unique noble poem in simple English because of my limited command of language. I am against his first two lines only but the rest is very good. The law of the nature For one to win, another has to be destroyed. That is the law of the nature! Your Majesty’s life of staying on the throne in a golden palace, surrounded by ministers, courtiers with all the Royal riches, luxuries, possessions, wealth, prosperities and regal paraphernalia are not permanent. The Royal luxuries would not last forever. It will burst like a bubble of water just come out of the wild ocean. All the present pleasures could disappear instantly. Nothing is permanent. Even if Your Majesty pardoned me, I could not escape the Kama, which are following me in Sansara according to my past deeds. The entire human beings are mortal and I would definitely die one day. In the Sansara circle even if our positions are reversed, I would not seek revenge but forgive your sins. My mortal body is just made of flesh and blood and death is awaiting me. That is just the law of the nature! This is the legend of greatness, even touching the sainthood. We could even compare with Jesus Christ’s prayer to God during the agonies of crucifixion: ‘Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.’ Ananda Thuriya is to be honoured, with profound regard, as one of the finest products of Burmese civilization, literature and culture. I suddenly remember the letters of Dr Salai Tun Than. He also declared that he would not take the grudge and forgiven the person who is willing to kill him. But the present world is not the ancient Pagan era of the person who kills the king could become a king. This is not the Kong Baung dynasty period to massacre all the rival royalties to be able to ascend the throne. This new advanced civilized democracy era is the time for all the people to stay united and to be able rule their country together peacefully. Nowadays we have the holistic view and no one could be excluded or unfairly denied his or her rights. Democracy is the Government of the People for the People. And in the modern civilized world we could work together for the benefits of all. Both of the two partners, or all the partners if more than two, could benefit from the combined efforts. No need to make our business partner or trading partner or our customer or our client or the others to loss or rob so that we could win or profit. Why should we fight for the bigger share of a small cake if we could combined and struggle together and bake a much bigger cake and enjoy the bigger shares or larger pieces of cakes. With the globalization no need to rob from the neighbours, “Rich thy neighbours” is a catch phrase nowadays. So if SPDC Generals are really patriotic, love Burma/Myanmar and wish the country to prosper, peaceful and progress, we must recruit the help of all the Burmese people, opposition parties, all the ethnic minority groups and different race and religious groups to work together for the common benefit and mutual progress. Although SPDC Junta has to share the power, you could avoid the total loss of power if the people really revolt against all of you. By sharing power and working together with NLD lead opposition you and all the people could aim for a Win Win solution. Ananda Thuriya did not cringe, plead, or complain, or knee down himself for the king’s mercy and plead for his life. Instead he faces his miserable fate with stable and calm mind and forgave the king for ordering to execute him. After reading this poem, the King felt great remorse and immediately withdrew his execution order. But it was too late; the execution of Ananda Thuriya had been already done. I hope we all could remove the bones and able to eat the flesh safely. We could learn a lot of lessons from the above poem. Yours humbly MAHABANDULA
