Generosity Makes us Great

I hereby wish to dig into the roots of many ills in the Myanmar Tatmadaw Generals’ sphere of thinking, action and expectation. We hope that the Military leaders could see the truth and have enough wisdom to get out of the political quagmire in our beloved country.

Up to now, Myanmar Military Junta’s stubborn pride still stands in the way of common sense and dignity. There should be subtleness in attempts to promote Military domination. There is today a blatant insistence that Military rights supersede those of others, and everything and everyone must bow down to the Myanmar Tatmadaw.

Myanmar General’s attitudes of insisting Atta or I, me, mine, my family, my friends, my Tatmadaw, and arrogant stand of “Don’t you dare challenge me or Myanmar Military’s sovereignty or dominance anywhere forever” prevails in Myanmar Political scenario nowadays.

We hope and pray that the Myanmar Generals would be able to realize in a very near future that the greatness of a person or an organization does not lie in the power it wields, or in the armory or ammunitions or wealth it displays but in the greatness of its heart and its good deeds. What we have is not important, but the whole world, God and Kamma would definitely care and record what we do with our possessions or wealth on the poor and needy. We would get the rewards in the hereafter depending on our deeds but not according to our possession in the present world.

When we pass on the Sansara, we would be most remembered not for material achievements but for the generosity, kindheartedness, donations, helping hands extended to the needs and poor etc along our life span. Someone once said that a man never stands as tall as when he stoops to help a little child.

There is greatness in giving. Just read the Way Thandayar Jattaka. Would-be Lord Buddha sacrificed ultimately or beyond our imagination and unbelievably to donate all his belongings: wife, children, kingdom, all the properties and even his own body and soul.

We see the shame in grabbing with greed and most of us had given the greatest hatred to that Poona who keeps on an endless asking for more and more donation. His never ending grabbing and soliciting for donations shown that he was in some kind of bondage to greediness, wanting, longing for everything, and he could not let go of anything he saw means that that actually he is a virtual slave to this material world and was bankrupt spiritually.

Yes it is true. If we are able to let go of anything, or in Burmese, “Than Yaw Zin _Phyat naing lyin” we are not owned by it and we all would be in fact free of this material world, Sansara and could obtain peace in this present world and could easily get the Nirvana or Paradise

So the key to freedom of wanting any more is not a hand reaching out to grasp but a hand outstretched to give. There is no free lunch in this world and even if we grasped or looted anything by force in this world, there may definitely be a pay back time later in the Sansara or in the life hereafter.

Dear Myanmar Tatmadaw Generals and especially Senior General Than Shwe, now the whole Myanmar is in your hands. You could easily crush the NLD, Daw Suu or any other individual or organizations. But that ultimate control of power could not last forever. Lord Buddha said, “Kway thaw let_ma sant mhi_Sant thaw let_ma kwat mhi” any thing could happen. You could not carry all these worldly belongings along the Sansara. If you could show your kind heart and generosity to all the citizens of Myanmar by sharing your power with Daw Suu and opposition, you would be remembered as a Hero of in history.
