8888 Demonstration in London
About 100 peopled gather outside Burmese Embassy around midday on 8 August 2006. The Burmese Embassy in London looked messy with pelted red colour paint symbolising of blood bath during the 8888 Pro-Democracy Uprising. The pelting of red pain is believed to have happened hours before the demonstration organised by the pro-democracy supporters in London. It caused an angry reaction from the Embassy with a series of photographs taken from inside the Embassy in an intimidating style. Minutes after the demonstration an attempt was made to aggravate the crowd of demonstrators by an embassy official throwing empty drinks cans from the second floor window. The cans fell straight on the grounds of the embassy's basement. None of the speakers or photographers from the demonstration got hurt. One of the demonstrators believed that the empty bottles were thrown rather than cans. The pelting of red paint is also believed to have triggered the Embassy officials to complain the London Metropolitan police protection squad about the heavy handed tactics of the demonstrators but the throwing of bottles or cans from the Embassy proved contrary to their initial complaints. The demonstration ended peacefully around 2:00 PM.
The embassy staffs hiding behind the curtains took photos of demonstrators.
