[Edith Mirante is author of “Down the Rat Hole: Adventures Underground on Burma’s Frontiers” (Orchid Press, 2005) and founder of Project Maje, an information project on Burma's human rights and environmental issues: www.projectmaje.org .

Down the Rat Hole: Adventures Underground on Burma's Frontiers _ the latest book by Edith Mirante (author of "Burmese Looking Glass") published by Orchid Press: a memoir of the author’s journeys among the brave indigenous peoples of some of Asia’s most remote and violent regions. Knowledgeably obsessed with Burma’s struggle for freedom, American artist/activist Mirante breaks laws and infiltrates borders, in impassioned journeys of discovery that take her through China, India, Laos, and chaotic Bangladesh. Down the Rat Hole is a wild and exotic headlong plunge into a hidden world of guerrilla warfare, heroin and jade trading, the AIDS pandemic, rainforest destruction, strikes and rioting, and one of the worst natural disasters of the 20th Century.]

Edith Mirante has written two remarkable and enlightening books, BURMESE LOOKING GLASS and DOWN THE RAT HOLE.  Anyone who is the least bit interested in Burma and that part of the world should take advantage of this opportunity to attend her presentation.
Do you know if Ms. Mirante will be touring the country with this presentation?  If so, please publish her schedule as a convenience to your readers.
