It is not enough to feel sad (Dedicated to our Refugees)
It is not enough that we feel sadness It is not enough that we feel pain Do not shut your eyes Because you can’t bear their suffering And it is too much for you to cope with
Please do not turn away From the ugliness of this world Please do not pretend that this isn’t happening Because it is If you look carefully Beneath their dirty little faces And the rags You will see the beauty of their souls And they are our responsibility
If you know about interdependence You know we are all part of the whole You will know that we cannot ignore What these people are going through We all have our lives to get on with But as we get on with our own lives We forget that our lives are not More precious than that of these people’s Our children are not more valuable than theirs Our welfare is not more important Than the poorest and most miserable
In Buddha’s eyes we are all his children He loves us all equally, These people need good food and clothes They need education as much as us They need everything we wish for ourselves And our loved ones
We are privileged, because of good karma But in our next life, who knows? They too need good health And human rights They too need to be free to be a human being They too need peace of mind They too need a safe place to live
If you are not too busy with your important job If you are not too busy to care If you are not too tired, old or weak Please do everything you can to make a difference They are all part of us and they truly deserve our help
Feraya * Please also watch video documentary Children of the Earth .
