The ploy and the gimmick of National Convention

Sandar said _

Whether or not there will be UN supervision on the up-coming referendum makes no difference. The road map is important step of system-transformation in our country.

The National League for Democracy and its pro-NLD groups such as 88 Generation, individuals and the veterans should mobilise the people to push the SPDC for making some important changes in the currently proposed constitution before it starts on 18 July 2007.

SPDC military junta should think of the country and think through-fully for long term and create a larger space for the opposition after establishing the new constitution.

NLD should mobilise the people by stating the following points:

  1. Proposing the SPDC to make the modifications on "The Amendement" - to be Amendable constitution
  2. Reducing the power for the state-president
  3. Share-power in the NDSC with civil parts

We will not have 100% democratic constitution now; however, if NLD and its pro-NLD can make something for the current-proposed constitution be amendable, then we can improve our constitution progressively in the long term, furthermore there will be more space for the opposition in order to do their political activities.

The people of Burma had never known what NLD was/is doing until now, therefore they should mobilise the people of Burma by stating what their vision for future state of Burma is in short, medium and long term - proposed these things directly to the people. The people of Burma are waiting the detail Plan A, Plan B and Plan C from the part of the Opposition impatiently. Please propose to us the detail Plans as quickly as possible and then we will think if their wishes are met with ours.

The people have shown their desire - freedom and democracy - and the personnel - NLD led by Daw Suu - to shape their lives and destiny via the May 27, 1990, multi-party polls. And the NLD came out winners and Daw Suu is under house arrest and incommunicado today.

Gen. Than Shwe has no desire or intention to get Burma democratized in its true light and sense other than via his Seven Step Road Map, as we all believed would lead the people and country to NOWHERE other than under his MILITARY RULE, and he and his ilk would enslave the people like now until eternity.

That's the ploy and the gimmick of his reviving the oft-stalled National Convention which we dubbed the SHAM SHOW for lack of freedom and spirit of democracy and moreover, participated by handpicked lackeys, drug warlords and some ethnic renegades only. NLD and other legal entities have boycotted the farcical show as you all very well know.

Of course, they are going to RIG the elections, or DECLARE it null and void if they don't get their way.

You can bet your last dollar, they are not going to play the game STRAIGHT.

Furthermore, it wouldn't be Than Shwe's fault if you believed him and played his game with his OWN DECK of CARDS and at HIS OWN TABLE also, and not getting PAID for your bet when you WON, like poor NLD not getting paid, though they had WON in the last election.

Though Than Shwe may be dumb he is certainly not STUPID.

As long as he is not sure of winning he will keep the game on hold, like now, and until eternity, if needs be.

Once he plays don't you ever place your bet down, because, he will never honor your bet. And don't you dare make any noise about that also. Learn from poor political prisoners still languishing in their cells, not to mention many rotting in their graves.

Believe me, the UN will not intervene in Burma.

Primarily and basically, the PEOPLE OF BURMA ARE THEIR OWN SAVIORS, I say.

Let's make them see the POINT and once they GET THE MESSAGE our WORRIES and specifically, THEIRS would be OVER.

The constitutional process is a very important step. We need a constitution. If the opposition are thinking to call for "No Vote", then they should have plans on what they will do after the no vote. They should also have prepared what they will do if people vote "yes".

The SPDC junta will not invite political groups to NC at all.

Sure, the proposed constitution needs to be corrected in at least some important chapters. However, I don't know whether or not the NLD or other groups have discussed and agreed on what chapters should be corrected or leave them as they are actually now. The main problem for the opposition is - they never discussed among them for these matters. They rejected the NC and will wait for people to give "No vote" in the referendum.
