The Last Day of An Honorable Burmese Lady in London

_ reported by Dr. Win Naing

A cremation was done at the Oxford Crematorium and reception in two other separate places in Oxford today for the above honorable Burmese Lady.

Dora Than E, known as '' Bilat Pyan Than'' passed away at the age of 99 years; she has been an old friend of the Burmese National Leader General Aung San's family for more than 6o years, and the current Democratic Leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi usually addressed her as '' Honourable Aunty'. And she served as the very first Burmese U.N. officer for 24 years. She was remembered today, and the event was attended by the friends from all over the world. The reception was done at St.Hughs College & R.C sisters resident in Oxford. It was also attended by two sons of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, San Myint  Aung & Htein Lin Aung. Her famous song'' Rowing a little boat'' was replayed at the end of her cremation event. It has been a remarkable and historical event, today for such an honourable Burmese Lady in the U.K.

Thanks for reporting. Dr. Aung Khin's report to RFA is also remarkable.
I remember her when Nehru Award for International Understanding was confered to Daw Suu in New Delhi. I was with her at reception dinner hosted by late the then Vice President KR Narayanan.
