Guide-lines for Articles
As a purely volunteer media campaign BURMA
DIGEST has to rely, to a very large extent, on the generous and kind
contributions of articles, news-photos, etc. by the volunteer writers and
reporters. BURMA DIGEST simply cannot have got this far without kind and
generous help of all our friends around the world.
Here are some guidelines for
all our authors _
-
Please send your articles by email to
burmadigest@tayzathuria.org.uk .
-
As BURMA DIGEST is a volunteer media campaign for democracy,
human rights and federalism in
Burma, we
cannot give "remuneration" for articles.
-
If you are sending your article for publication in BURMA
DIGEST, please do not send it to any other media, journal, website, blog, forum,
mailing groups, etc. before it has been first published in BURMA DIGEST. But
once it has been published in BURMA DIGEST, you can republish it in any other
journal/media.
-
Authors own the copy right of their articles.
They can re-publish their articles in any other journals at any time.
-
As all article contributions are
voluntary-donations in nature, articles already published in BURMA DIGEST will
remain in BURMA DIGEST archives and in any circumstances BURMA DIGEST do not
accept any obligation to remove old articles from archives.
-
Once articles have been published in BURMA
DIGEST, authors cannot change their mind and cannot request BURMA DIGEST to
remove their already published articles from BURMA DIGEST archives. [Deleting
articles(webpages) and re-modifying interconnected links inside the website
frequently can lead to disruption in website structure and can disturb overall
function of the website.]
-
Articles must not contain personal attacks by name. Only one
exception_ criticism by name on military regime leaders.
-
Articles for BURMA DIGEST EXTRA must be in support of human
rights around the world.
-
Articles can be written in any style_ essay, commentary,
opinion piece, analysis, review, critique, satire, humour, poem, play, true
story, etc.
-
Articles can contain or consist of photos/pictures.
-
Articles can either be in English or Burmese language; but
not both, i.e., some paragraphs in English and some paragraphs in Burmese.
-
Articles must not contain any insult to any race or religion.
-
Articles must not contain gender discrimination.
-
Articles must not contain any glorification of any form of
terrorism
-
Articles must not contain obscenities.
-
Articles published in BURMA DIGEST may be
republished in BURMA DIGEST at an appropriate time in the future, unless the
author notify not to do so. And English articles may be translated into Burmese,
or Burmese articles into English, unless the author notify not to do so.
-
Articles for BURMA DIGEST must be written in support of
“democracy, human rights and federalism in
Burma” and
other related subjects such as labour rights, environmental conservation, peace
& prosperity in
Burma,
etc. For a summary of BURMA DIGEST standpoint, please see "To
Make it Break".
-
Any opinion expressed in the articles are the
views of the authors only; they do not necessarily reflect BURMA DIGEST's
official standpoint. And BURMA DIGEST cannot take responsibility for the
opinions expressed by individual authors. Authors have to take responsibility of
their own opinions.
-
Articles should not be shorter than one A4 page or longer
than five pages. Should be sent as Microsoft word documents. Should be in
commonly used fonts and reasonable font size.
-
Please kindly check for errors in spelling, grammar and
usages before sending your article.
-
Photos for photo-essays should be in moderate size, less than
50 KB size. Should be in JPG or GIF formats.
-
As Burma Digest is published on every Saturday evening
GMT, deadline
for sending articles every week is Friday midnight GMT.
-
A clear indication about authors' requirement
to read these guidelines is described on BURMA DIGEST main page. So when an
author contacts BURMA DIGEST and contributes an article, it is to be understood
on both sides (author & BURMA DIGEST) that these guidelines are to be respected
on both side.
THANK YOU
VERY MUCH INDEED FOR YOUR KIND CONTRIBUTION OF ARTICLES TO BURMA DIGEST.

Regarding No.(19), so as to be updated, PDF (portable document format) should be
inserted as a choice if not MS word.
[Editor's reply: For Burmese articles, already formatted pdf documents are
better than un-formatted MS word documents.]

Very balanced 23 conditions; let me think aloud about #7 exception. The ruthless
manner they have done to the country and people is indescribable; why should we
behave like them. Politeness is typical Burmese character. Should we sacrifice
our value to humiliate a bunch of clowns?
